The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has denounced a series of attacks on telecommunications infrastructure across the Middle East, which have been attributed to Iran following the outbreak of war with the United States and Israel in February.
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), along with Jordan, urged the ITU to take action over strikes that have targeted communication networks in Bahrain, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan.
Responding to these concerns, the ITU’s governing body, the ITU Council, approved a draft resolution on Friday. According to an ITU spokesperson speaking to AFP, the resolution was adopted by consensus.
