In a shocking case from Bijnor, a couple and their younger son allegedly hired a contract killer to murder their 32-year-old family member, reportedly driven by years of distress over his drug addiction and violent behaviour.
According to police, the victim, Dushyant Kumar from Nasirpur village in Amroha, was found dead in a dry canal near a forested area on Saturday morning.
Superintendent of Police Lakhan Singh Yadav said Dushyant frequently abused and assaulted his elderly parents while under the influence of drugs. Frustrated and fearful, his younger brother Sankit, along with parents Peetam Singh and Maya Devi, allegedly decided to eliminate him.
Police said the family contacted a local criminal identified as Jogendra and agreed to pay ₹5 lakh for the murder. Investigators further revealed that Dushyant’s mother allegedly sold her jewellery for ₹55,000 to arrange the advance payment.
According to the investigation, Jogendra, his associates and Sankit allegedly strangled Dushyant on Friday night before dumping his body in the canal.
Suspicion reportedly fell on Sankit during initial questioning, leading police to arrest him along with his father. An FIR has been registered against the parents, the younger brother, the alleged contract killer, and others under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita relating to murder.
Police said Maya Devi, Jogendra and two unidentified suspects remain absconding, while the arrested accused have been sent to judicial custody.
