Police in Bengaluru arrested two men accused of sexually abusing two minor girls, recording the assaults and uploading the videos on social media for financial gain. Authorities said the arrests were made after the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) alerted the Cyber Command Centre (CCC) about the circulation of child sexual abuse material.
The accused were identified as:
- Kiran Kumar Nayak, 29, a cattle grazer from Kaidallipalya near Kaggalipura
- Aditya MK, 20, employed in swimming pool maintenance work in Channapatna
Police recovered three mobile phones allegedly used to record the abuse.
Victims Were Orphaned Sisters
According to investigators, the victims are girls aged 11 and 12 from a farming family in the Ramanagara region of Bengaluru South district. Their mother had died several years earlier, and their father reportedly died two years ago after struggling with alcoholism.
After becoming orphaned, the girls were living with their uncle, who police say was acquainted with one of the accused. Investigators allege the uncle accepted money from the men and allowed them access to the children.
Police said the abuse had continued for over a year.
Cyber Alert Led to Arrests
The arrests were carried out by officers from the Cyber Command Centre after the NCRP detected the circulation of the videos online. Officials described it as a significant intervention because it involved identifying and arresting suspects allegedly creating and distributing child sexual abuse material.
Pronab Mohanty, Director General of Police at the Cyber Command Centre, said a case had been registered at Kaggalipura police station and the girls’ statements had been recorded.
Police are still searching for the uncle, who is currently absconding.
