KOTTUR (VIJAYANAGAR): A man has been arrested for allegedly killing his parents and sister and burying their bodies inside a rented house in Kottur, police said. The crime is believed to have taken place on January 27.
The accused, Akshay Kumar, is a native of Doddakittadahalli village in Hosadurga taluk of Chitradurga district. Investigators said he murdered his father Bhimraj, mother Jayalakshmi, and sister Amrutha at the house where the family had been living for the past few years. The family earned a living through tyre-retreading work.
After committing the crime, Akshay allegedly travelled to Bengaluru and tried to mislead investigators by filing a missing persons complaint at Tilak Nagar police station, claiming that his parents and sister were untraceable.
However, during sustained questioning, he reportedly broke down and confessed to the triple murder, police said.
The motive behind the killings is yet to be established, and further investigation is ongoing.
Superintendent of Police S Jahnavi and Deputy Superintendent of Police Mallesh visited the spot and conducted a preliminary inquiry.
Police said the accused is being brought to Kudligi to identify the exact locations where the bodies were buried, as part of the ongoing investigation.
