NEW DELHI: Toll collections through FASTag on national and state highways have surged by nearly 20% in the first three months of the current financial year, reaching approximately Rs 21,000 crore, compared to Rs 17,280 crore during the same period in 2024-25, according to National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) data.
Around 80% of this toll revenue, roughly Rs 17,000 crore, has been generated from National Highway (NH) users. The increase in toll collection can be attributed to the expansion of tolling on more highway stretches and a revision in user fees.
Officials noted that while the rise in toll collection is expected to boost revenue for the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and other road-owning agencies, the overall impact will depend on how many private car owners opt for the newly announced Annual Toll Pass. This pass, priced at Rs 3,000, will allow unlimited crossings at 200 toll plazas (counted as trips) and is set to be rolled out on August 15.
