A 14-year-old boy was killed after a water bottle thrown from a moving train struck him in the chest, police confirmed. The incident occurred on March 14 near Shapar-Veraval in Kotda Sangani taluka when the boy, identified as Badal Singh Godthakar, was standing near the railway track. The bottle hit him in the chest, causing him to collapse immediately. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, doctors declared him “dead on arrival.”
The boy’s father, Santosh, filed a complaint at the Shapar-Veraval police station on April 1. Following an investigation, which included reviewing CCTV footage, police identified the train involved. The footage from Jetalsar Junction confirmed that the first coach (engine) was occupied by the loco pilot and his assistant.
Upon questioning, 31-year-old Shivram Gurjar, the assistant loco pilot with Western Railway, confessed to throwing the bottle. Gurjar was arrested and charged with causing death by negligence under Section 106(1) of the BNS.
