A 17-year-old boy and his 18-year-old girlfriend have been taken into custody for allegedly murdering another 17-year-old boy in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. A 22-year-old repeat offender was also arrested for his alleged involvement.
The victim’s body was found stuffed in a sack and dumped in an abandoned plot in Pangappara on Monday.
Police said the prime accused allegedly lured the victim to the spot using his former girlfriend’s Instagram account. An altercation reportedly followed, during which the victim was strangled with the help of a belt.
Investigators suspect the murder was motivated by a relationship dispute. The 18-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy.
The juvenile accused was sent to a shelter home until November 10. A special investigation team has been formed to probe the case, while police are examining whether he can be tried as an adult.
