Chennai: Tamil Nadu on Thursday signed 97 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with companies committing investments worth ₹67,452 crore, the state government said.
The proposed investments are expected to generate 1,06,998 new jobs across the state, Industries Minister S Keerthana said.
With the latest agreements, Tamil Nadu has signed a total of 104 MoUs since the government assumed office on May 10. These agreements represent a combined investment commitment of ₹1,02,514 crore and are expected to create 1,21,788 jobs.
The MoUs were signed during the ‘Vetri Investment Conclave’, the government’s first major investment-focused industry event, held in Chennai. Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, Industries Minister S Keerthana and Deepak Jacob, CEO and Managing Director of Guidance Tamil Nadu, attended the event.
The automobile sector attracted the largest number of agreements, with 16 companies committing ₹16,773 crore in investments and promising around 13,475 jobs.
The data centre sector emerged as another major area of investment. Two companies signed agreements involving investments of ₹11,417 crore, which are expected to generate approximately 1,644 jobs.
The government said the agreements reflect continued interest from domestic and international companies in investing in Tamil Nadu and are expected to strengthen employment and industrial growth in the state.
