A 47-year-old Indian-origin man, Tejinder Dhaliwal, has been arrested and charged with sexual assault in Brampton following an investigation into allegations that women were targeted through fake online job advertisements.
Halton Regional Police said Dhaliwal was identified after probing two incidents in which victims were contacted through online job postings and later subjected to sexual exploitation. Police have released his photograph, stating they believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward. Dhaliwal was arrested on January 26 and released on bail the following day.
Investigators believe the online job advertisements were deliberately designed to exploit women seeking employment, particularly those who were new to Canada. Two incidents have been reported so far — one in March 2025 and another in December 2025.
In both cases, police allege Dhaliwal posted “help wanted” advertisements on Kijiji, a popular Canadian online marketplace, offering beginner-level data entry jobs. According to investigators, after arranging interviews, the accused picked up the victims and drove them to isolated industrial parking lots.
“In one incident, a victim was sexually assaulted. In a separate occurrence, a victim was offered employment opportunities in exchange for a sexual relationship with the accused,” police said in a statement. One incident took place in Milton and the other in Halton Hills.
Dhaliwal has been charged with sexual assault and obtaining sexual services for consideration.
