New Delhi: The Indian Railways has stepped up security on the Sangaldan-Baramulla section of the rail line in Kashmir. Officials confirmed that the security protocols across all railway networks in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly for the Jammu-Srinagar section, which is yet to be opened, will undergo a comprehensive review to ensure safety.
Currently, the 183km Sangaldan-Baramulla section is operational, with 22 trains running across the Valley, connecting major stations like Baramulla, Srinagar, and Banihal. “We have implemented necessary safety measures to protect both assets and passengers in Kashmir. The security requirements for the remaining stretch will be evaluated, and further steps will be taken as needed,” said a railway official.
