NEW DELHI: Buoyed by the recent student protests at Jantar Mantar, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Monday announced that it will launch nationwide demonstrations at around 100 locations, including Delhi, beginning November 26.
The umbrella body of farmer organisations, which spearheaded the agitation against the now-repealed farm laws, said the protests would continue until its key demands are addressed.
Among the demands are a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP), repeal of all free trade agreements—including the proposed India-US Free Trade Agreement currently under negotiation—a comprehensive farm loan waiver to address rural indebtedness, and the withdrawal of the four labour codes.
The SKM is also seeking a minimum monthly wage of ₹31,000 for workers, restoration of the earlier rural employment guarantee framework, withdrawal of the Electricity Privatisation Bill, 2025, Seed Bill, 2025, and the National Food Security Act (NFSA) Amendment Bill, and an end to what it described as forced land acquisition.
“The protests will not be called off until all seven demands are accepted,” said P. Krishnaprasad of the All-India Kisan Sabha (AIKS).
