DAVANAGERE: Nine suspects were arrested by police for reportedly severely abusing a 17-year-old teenager, including removing his clothing by force, beating him, and putting red ants in his underwear. The incident took place in Channagiri’s Astapanahalli village on April 4.
The boy was allegedly beaten by his uncle and other family members because they accused him of stealing and acting inappropriately around women.
The victim allegedly endured cruel treatment from the criminals, including torture and being tied to an areca tree. They then applied red ants to his body and into his underwear.
When the video of this occurrence became viral on social media, the people widely condemned it instead.
The Channagiri police started legal action. The grandpa of the victim filed a legal complaint against the attackers. Authorities subsequently filed a case against Sudhan alias Madhusudhan, 30, Lucky, 21, Darshan, 22, Parashu, 25, Shivadarshan, 23, Harish, 25, Patti Raju, 20, Bhooni, 18, and Subhash, 23.
Police have started an investigation, and all nine suspects are currently in arrest.
