Port of Oakland handled 184,492 TEU in April, down 0.5% year on year, as vessel calls fell to 80 from 86 in March, according to Port of Oakland.

Throughput declined from 198,667 TEU in March. Imports totalled 91,805 TEU, while exports reached 92,687 TEU, leaving outbound cargo slightly ahead of inbound volumes.

The port said the monthly decline reflected fewer vessel calls, carrier schedule adjustments, vessel deployment changes and normal cargo fluctuations.

Volumes remained relatively stable because of larger vessel exchanges and more cargo moving per call.

Loaded exports totalled 63,910 TEU. Loaded imports require caution: the body of the port’s release gives 78,822 TEU, while the highlights section and May maritime newsletter give 78,882 TEU.

Cargo volume for the first four months of the year reached 742,351 TEU, down 5.7% from the same period in 2025.

Port of Oakland is a public port authority in California overseeing the Oakland seaport, Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport, waterfront real estate including Jack London Square, and a publicly owned utility.
