NYK has taken delivery of LNG-powered car carrier newbuilding Plumeria Leader.
The 7,000 vehicle unit pure car truck carrier (PCTC) Plumeria Leader was named in a ceremony at Shin Kurushima Dockyard of Shin Kurushima Toyohashi Shipbuilding.
The ceremony was attended by Kyogo Onoue, Chief Officer, TPS Group of the Toyota Motor Corporation, and Takaya Soga, Senior Managing Executive Officer of NYK.
The Plumeria Leader is NYK’s second LNG-powered car carrier following the Sakura Leader.
NYK is investing LNG as bridging fuel and will have 20 LNG-fuelled car carriers by 2028.
