NOIDA — A 15-month-old girl was brutally assaulted at a Sector 137 daycare, allegedly by an attendant who slapped, punched, bit, and threw her to the ground — while the facility’s owner reportedly stood by without intervening.
The child’s mother, Monica, a resident of Paras Tierea, had enrolled her daughter at Blippi daycare two hours a day since May. On Monday, she noticed her daughter unusually distressed. At home, she found bite marks on the toddler’s thighs. A doctor confirmed they were human.
Monica demanded CCTV footage from the centre. The video allegedly showed attendant Sonali — employed only 10 days earlier — slapping the child, hitting her with a plastic bat, throwing her down, and biting her. Owner Charu was seen nearby but offered no comfort despite the child’s cries.
When confronted, Monica claims both women misbehaved and threatened her. She lodged a complaint at Sector 142 police station on Thursday. Both Charu and Sonali were booked under sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 352 (intentional insult) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police have taken Sonali into custody and are investigating. The toddler underwent a medical examination to assess injuries.
