CHANDIGARH – The New Delhi-Una Janshatabdi Express was involved in an accident late Thursday night after a tractor-trolley unexpectedly crossed the railway tracks near Una, coming directly in the path of the train.
The incident took place at approximately 11:45 PM, as the train was nearing its destination.
According to Vinod Bhatia, Divisional Railway Manager of Ambala Division, the engine and four coaches sustained damage in the collision. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported.
Rescue and relief teams were promptly dispatched to the scene, and track clearance operations are currently underway.
“This was an unfortunate accident involving a civilian vehicle and is not linked to any wartime or security situation,” Bhatia clarified.
Authorities are investigating how the tractor-trolley managed to breach the railway crossing.
