The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the NEET-UG 2026 results, with over 11 lakh candidates qualifying for admission to nearly 1.37 lakh MBBS seats and undergraduate dental, AYUSH, and allied medical courses across India.
Aryan Gupta from Punjab and Panshul Bansal from Haryana emerged as the joint toppers, each scoring 715 out of 720 marks. Among the top 10 rank holders, Punjab, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Maharashtra each produced two candidates, while Haryana and Uttar Pradesh had one each.
Women performed exceptionally well this year, making up 58% of all qualified candidates. The NTA also reported that female candidates recorded a higher qualification rate than males.
A total of 138 candidates scored above 690, while 19 crossed the 700-mark. Around 1,492 candidates scored 650 or above, over 10,000 scored more than 600, and nearly 91,000 candidates secured 500 or more marks.
The examination followed a turbulent season after the original May 3 test was cancelled due to an alleged question paper leak. A re-examination was conducted on June 21, and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) continues its probe, with 13 arrests made so far.
In the final answer key, the NTA dropped one Physics question and accepted two correct answers for another, awarding bonus marks to eligible candidates. The agency said the results were released on time to ensure that the medical admission and counselling process remains on schedule.
