Mumbai’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended food licences for eight establishments across the city, including a Swiggy Instamart dark store and an Amazon warehouse, after uncovering serious hygiene violations.
Swiggy Instamart store
The FDA suspended the licence of a Swiggy Instamart dark store in Ballard Estate, operated by Swinsta ENT Pvt Ltd, after inspectors found live rodents and cockroaches in food-handling areas. Inspectors also discovered rodent droppings in storage sections and rice bags that had been gnawed open, spilling grain onto contaminated floors. Adding to the concerns, an unclean but functioning toilet was found located directly adjacent to the food storage area, raising the risk of pathogen contamination. The action followed similar violations found days earlier at Olympia Coffee House in Colaba.
Amazon warehouse
The FDA also suspended the licence of an Amazon warehouse and dark store in Kandivli (East), run by Acculogicx Supply Chain Solutions. Inspectors cited stagnant wastewater on the premises, inadequate separation of food and non-food items, chemicals stored in close proximity to food packaging, and a lack of proper temperature logs.
Other establishments affected
Several other outlets also had their licences suspended over hygiene lapses, including Suleman Usman Mithaiwala on Mohammed Ali Road, Nice Enterprises in Chembur, Jain Sweet & Bhelpuri House in Kandivli (West), Go Green Food Hospitality in Ghatkopar (East), Swad Snacks Corner in Lalbaug and Parel, and Lucknowi Kebab and Zaika Moradabadi Hotel in Versova.
