THANE: A 30-year-old man allegedly died by suicide following a domestic dispute with his family at his residence in Dombivli, police said on Sunday.
The incident occurred around 12.30 am on Saturday at a chawl in Hetutne village.
The deceased has been identified as Rajaram Ramdularam Bharti. According to police, Bharti had an argument with his family members shortly before the incident.
Following the dispute, he allegedly locked his wife and children inside a bedroom before hanging himself from the ceiling in the kitchen.
Neighbours rushed to the house after hearing cries for help from the family. They broke open the locked room and rescued the woman and children before discovering Bharti hanging inside the house.
He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and sent the body for postmortem examination.
