ULHASNAGAR: The Maharashtra government is working to develop a comprehensive ecosystem for the textile sector, including initiatives to recycle and reuse textile waste, State Textile Minister Sanjay Savkare said during his visit to the concluding day of the Ulhasnagar Garments Fair (UGF) 3.0 on Friday.
Accompanied by BJP MLA Kumar Ailani, BJP district president Rajesh Vadhrya, and other dignitaries, the minister visited over 170 exhibition stalls showcasing a wide range of readymade garments for men, women and children. He interacted with manufacturers and exhibitors while reviewing products featuring the latest designs and fashion trends.
Savkare said the state government is committed to strengthening Maharashtra’s textile and garment industry by promoting sustainable manufacturing, textile recycling and value addition, creating an integrated ecosystem that benefits both businesses and the environment.
Praising Ulhasnagar’s garment industry, the minister said the city has carved out a strong identity in the readymade apparel sector, not only in Maharashtra but across the country. He expressed confidence that events such as the Ulhasnagar Garments Fair would generate fresh opportunities for trade, investment and employment.
Held under the theme “Bigger, Better, Bolder,” the exhibition attracted traders, wholesalers, buyers and industry representatives from India and overseas, providing a platform for business networking and showcasing high-quality apparel and emerging fashion trends.
MLA Kumar Ailani said the fair has become an important platform for promoting Ulhasnagar’s garment industry at the national level. He noted that the exhibition offers clothing for men, women and children at prices significantly lower than those in retail showrooms, while highlighting the government’s continued efforts to provide infrastructure and policy support for industrial growth.
According to the organisers, UGF 3.0 aims to position Ulhasnagar as a major garment manufacturing hub and create new business opportunities for local manufacturers and exporters.
BJP district president Rajesh Vadhrya said the minister’s visit had boosted the confidence of traders and manufacturers. He also acknowledged Savkare’s role in raising GST-related concerns faced by garment traders, which were subsequently addressed in the state budget.
