A widow has accused two men of luring her into an SUV on the pretext of handing over land documents, allegedly drugging her with a spiked soft drink and attempting to sexually assault her. Police have registered an FIR and launched an investigation into the case.
According to the complaint, the woman, a resident of Rae Bareli Road, had been in contact with a property dealer regarding the purchase of an 800-square-foot plot. She alleged that after paying an advance of ₹50,000, she repeatedly requested the property’s legal documents, including the sale deed and land records.
The woman claimed that on May 29, she was called to the Civil Court premises in Kaisarbagh to collect the documents. She alleged that one of the accused took her to the Residency area, where another man was waiting in a black SUV. Believing that a lawyer was bringing the documents, she agreed to sit inside the vehicle.
According to the FIR, the accused repeatedly offered her a soft drink despite her initial refusal. After drinking part of it, she began feeling dizzy and drowsy. She alleged that the men then molested her and attempted to rape her inside the moving vehicle.
The complainant said she raised an alarm and repeatedly banged on the vehicle’s doors and windows for help. She further alleged that the accused pushed her out of the moving SUV near the Chief Medical Officer’s office before fleeing. She later returned home in an autorickshaw.
The woman also alleged that she received threatening phone calls days later, warning her against approaching the police and threatening harm to her and her children if she pursued the case.
Police have registered an FIR against the two accused under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including charges related to assault, cheating and criminal intimidation. Further investigation is underway.
