LOS ANGELES: Two people were killed and six others injured in a late-night shooting early Monday at an after-party in downtown Los Angeles, authorities said. The incident occurred in a warehouse district during a party reportedly linked to the Hard Summer music festival.

According to LAPD Officer Norma Eisenman, officers initially responded around 11 p.m. Sunday to break up what was described as a “big party.” An armed individual was spotted entering the building during the event and was arrested at the scene.

Despite the police dispersal, gunfire erupted later. Officers were called back around 1 a.m. Monday after receiving reports of shots fired. Upon returning, they found one male victim dead at the scene. A second victim, a woman, later died at a hospital.

Six others were injured and taken to nearby hospitals. Their current conditions have not been disclosed.

Party Linked to Music Festival

The event was promoted online as an after-party for the Hard Summer Festival, a major techno and electronic music event held over the weekend at Hollywood Park in Inglewood, about 9 miles from the shooting site.

The motive for the shooting remains unknown, and police have not released further details about the arrested suspect. Investigators remained at the scene for hours, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.

The LAPD has urged anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
