GADAG: A 24-year-old woman, just four months into her marriage, tragically ended her life in Karnataka’s Gadag district, reportedly due to harassment from her in-laws over her complexion.
Pooja Ayyanagoudar, the deceased, was married to Amaresh, an employee at a private company in Shahapur. According to a complaint filed by her parents on Saturday, she was allegedly harassed by her mother-in-law, Shashikala, and her husband’s elder brother, Veeranagouda, over the color of her skin, Superintendent of Police B.S. Nemagouda said.
She was found dead by hanging at her in-laws’ residence in Betgeri-Gadag on April 15. Shashikala and Veeranagouda have been taken into custody and remanded to judicial detention.
