The Karnataka government has suspended IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar following his arrest in a case involving alleged corruption in recruitment conducted by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC).
Gangwar, a 2016-batch IAS officer and former KPSC Controller of Examinations, was arrested on August 29 and is currently under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) reportedly found material suggesting corruption in KPSC recruitment processes during its investigation. The government said Gangwar’s detention for more than 48 hours led to his suspension under the All-India Services rules.
He will receive a subsistence allowance during the suspension and has been instructed not to leave his headquarters without written permission from the state government. Further action will depend on the ongoing investigation.
