NEW DELHI: A 40-year-old man in Tumakuru district allegedly killed his two minor sons before dying by suicide at his home, police said.

The incident occurred in Alakere village under Kunigal police station limits. The man, identified as Shivanna, was found dead along with his sons, aged six and eleven.

According to police, Shivanna worked at a private factory and also served as a temple priest. He was reportedly under severe distress due to ongoing domestic disputes linked to his wife Kavya’s alleged relationship with another man, identified as Hemanth. The matter had earlier led to a counselling session involving police and local community members.

Despite the intervention, tensions allegedly continued. Police said Shivanna took advantage of being alone at home and allegedly smothered his children before taking his own life.

A murder case has been registered against Shivanna based on a complaint filed by a relative. In addition, police have booked Kavya and Hemanth on charges of abetment to suicide. Further investigation is underway.
