Jaipur: Police have arrested one man and detained a minor in connection with the alleged molestation of a Japanese tourist near Jaigarh Fort, while a search is underway for three other accused.

The incident took place on Sunday around 8 am, when the tourist—who had arrived in Rajasthan a few days earlier—was walking along a relatively isolated stretch near Jaigarh Palace in the Amber area. According to police, five youths intercepted her, misbehaved, and outraged her modesty.

The woman raised an alarm and managed to escape towards a nearby security guard, who alerted authorities. The accused fled the scene.

Additional DCP (North) Neeraj Pathak said one accused, identified as Ameenudhin (24) from the Ramganj area, has been arrested, while a minor has been detained. “Teams are conducting raids to apprehend the remaining three accused,” he added.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Amber police station. Investigators have scanned over 50 CCTV footage clips from the area and are using technical surveillance to trace the absconding suspects.

DCP (North) Karan Sharma said efforts are being made to ensure swift prosecution. “We aim to file an early charge sheet and may take up the case under the case officers’ scheme for expedited trial,” he said.

Police confirmed that all five accused have been identified, though some names are being withheld pending arrest and age verification. Raids are ongoing, as the remaining suspects are not at their residences.

The incident comes days after another case in Jaipur, where a video showed a foreign woman being harassed by youths posing for selfies—raising fresh concerns about tourist safety in the city.

Investigations are ongoing.
