India’s crude oil imports dropped to 19.59 million metric tons in June, representing a decline of more than 12% compared to the previous month, according to government data released Tuesday.
The Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell data showed imports fell 3.5% on an annual basis from 20.31 million tons recorded in June last year.
Crude oil product imports decreased nearly 5% to 2.66 million tons in June from May levels. Year-over-year, product imports were down nearly 35%. Product exports fell more than 28% to 3.83 million tons compared to the same period last year.
The country’s fuel consumption in June totaled 19.42 million metric tons, down approximately 3.7% from the prior month.
LPG imports reached 1.03 million tons in June, lower than the 1.15 million tons imported in May. Fuel oil imports declined to 0.02 million tons from 0.54 million tons in June of the previous year.
Jet fuel exports decreased more than 38% to 0.41 million tons from 0.68 million tons year-over-year. Petrol exports were 23.6% lower compared to June last year, while diesel exports dropped more than 40% during the same timeframe.
