HMM has started calling Buenos Aires and Brazil on a new service linking Latin America and Asia.

The FIL (Far East, India and Latin America) service started calling Buenos Aires’ Terminal 4, managed by APM Terminals on 27 January.

The service calls at Brazil and Buenos Aires, every 15 days, and will include ports in Singapore, India and China. All seven, 4,750 teu vessels on the service are deployed by HMM.

“From HMM we expect to provide our customers with a more efficient and reliable service, and we will continue to expand our presence in the Latin American trade, which has a high potential for growth and development,” said agency sources.

Among the FIL’s features are a direct import service from Kattupalli, in India, and a significantly shorter transit time for exports: For example, shipments to Singapore have a transit time of 23 days.

The service rotation includes calls at the Chinese ports of Shanghai, Ningbo and Shekou; Singapore; Busan, Korea; Kattupalli (India); Durban (South Africa); the Brazilian ports of Santos, Paranaguá and Itajaí; Montevideo and Buenos Aires.

The most competitive logistics services and comparative rates led HMM to choose the Buenos Aires terminal for the transportation of automotive, textile, toy, chemical and electronic products, among others.
