GURGAON: A 29-year-old woman employed with a multinational company was found dead in her rented paying guest accommodation in DLF Phase-3’s V-block on Wednesday evening. The police have questioned a man she was reportedly in a relationship with for the past seven years.
According to investigators, the man, a 29-year-old resident of Uttam Nagar in Delhi, used to visit her PG regularly but had not met her since Monday. The two had earlier worked together in the same organisation before moving on to different companies.
Originally from Najafgarh, Delhi, the woman was the youngest of three sisters and had been living alone. Police suspect she may have died by suicide on Monday evening.
“She had spoken to both her sister and the man earlier that day,” a senior police officer said. “She was also undergoing treatment for mental health issues and was known to have anger-related concerns.”
Her body was discovered after the PG caretaker reported a strong foul smell emanating from her locked room. “The smell had been noticeable for two days but became unbearable on Wednesday afternoon, which is when we were alerted,” the officer added.
While the police are examining all possible angles, including her relationship with the man, they have so far found nothing suspicious. The final cause of death will be confirmed after the postmortem report.
