GURGAON: Two men have been arrested for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a delivery partner in Gurgaon in what police say was a planned attempt to recover ₹6.5 lakh.
The accused have been identified as Jaybir (26) and Aman (21). Police said the incident occurred near the Southern Peripheral Road, where the duo, along with others, allegedly thrashed the victim with kicks, punches and wooden sticks before forcibly bundling him into a car.
A video of the attack, recorded on a mobile phone, has since gone viral on social media. The footage shows the victim screaming and pleading as he tries to escape while being assaulted and threatened with death.
An emergency response vehicle team reached the spot in time, intervened in the incident and foiled the kidnapping attempt, leading to the arrest of the two accused. Both are residents of Bhiwani.
According to police, the main accused Jaybir, who runs a transport business in Hisar, claimed that the victim was a former friend. He told investigators that in 2024 he had sold a truck and kept ₹6.5 lakh in his car, which he alleges the victim stole and never returned.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Sandeep Kumar said Jaybir and Aman had planned to intimidate the victim into paying back the money, which led to the assault and kidnapping attempt. The investigation is ongoing.
