A 50-year-old man was allegedly hacked to death by his unemployed son following an argument over the latter’s lack of work in Banjara Tola, Prempura, within the Sukhi Sewania police station limits, on Sunday night.
The accused allegedly attacked his father with an axe three times while he was resting after dinner. The victim suffered severe injuries and died at the spot.
Police identified the deceased as Phoolsingh Nath, who lived in Banjara Tola, Prempura, Bhadhbhada village, with his wife, Guddi Bai, 49, and their son, Dharmendra Nath, 30.
According to a complaint filed by Guddi Bai, Phoolsingh and Dharmendra frequently argued because the father repeatedly urged his son to find employment. Dharmendra, who was unemployed, allegedly did not have regular work.
Around 9.30 p.m., Phoolsingh again asked his son to find a job and reportedly told his wife not to serve him food. Police said Dharmendra became enraged following the exchange.
After Phoolsingh finished dinner and went to lie down inside their hut, Dharmendra allegedly took an axe and attacked him. The blows reportedly struck the victim’s hands, legs and back before the accused fled the scene.
Police arrived after receiving information about the incident and rushed Phoolsingh to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
A murder case has been registered, and police have launched a search for Dharmendra.
Phoolsingh was locally known as “Sher Ka Shikari” after a leopard reportedly died in a wild-boar trap he had set. A case under the Wildlife Protection Act had been registered against him, and he was released from jail around six months ago.
Police said Dharmendra had also previously faced a case related to wildlife poaching and was released from custody around the same time.
