In a serious domestic violence case, police in Pune have registered an FIR for attempted murder against the personal assistant (PA) of a Maharashtra cabinet minister, following allegations made by his wife.

According to officials from the Koregaon Park Police Station, the complaint was filed by the 30-year-old wife, who accused her husband of attempting to strangle her at their residence in Queens Garden, Koregaon Park, around 8:30 pm on April 30.

The FIR also alleges that the accused assaulted both his wife and their nine-year-old son with a cricket bat. The child was reportedly attacked when he tried to intervene during the incident.

Senior inspector Vijayraj Doke stated that the woman had initially gone to her native place in Ahilyanagar district after the incident, where she filed a complaint. The case was later transferred to Pune police, who are now proceeding with the investigation.

Preliminary details in the FIR suggest the couple had been experiencing marital discord for the past three to four years, with frequent arguments over domestic issues. On the day of the incident, the situation allegedly escalated into violence, leading to the attempted strangulation and physical assault.

Police have said further action will follow after recording the woman’s detailed statement.
