JAMMU — In a shocking act of road rage, a youth driving a Mahindra Thar allegedly reversed his vehicle to deliberately hit an elderly man a second time after a minor collision with the victim’s scooty. The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday near Allora Textiles in Jammu.

CCTV footage captured the disturbing sequence, showing the Thar being driven recklessly from Gandhi Nagar towards Greenbelt Park. After the scooty and Thar collided, the driver paused momentarily—only to then reverse and strike the elderly man again, causing serious injuries.

Bystanders rushed the injured victim to GMC Hospital Jammu, while the accused fled the scene.

Police have registered an FIR under sections 281, 109, and 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Gandhi Nagar police station. The Thar has been seized, and the registered owner has been detained, though the driver remains at large.

“The Thar was being driven by Manan Anand, son of Rajinder Anand of Nanak Nagar,” confirmed Superintendent of Police Ajay Sharma. Authorities suspect the driver may have fled the city and are actively searching for him.

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, sparking public outrage. Police have appealed for information from the public to help track down the accused.
