The Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) has called a one-day strike on November 3, with classes suspended, to protest the termination of an assistant professor at the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), formerly the School of Open Learning.
The move follows an October 30 order terminating Dr Saripali V Ravikiran, an assistant professor in the Political Science department, citing unsatisfactory performance during his extended probation period.
DUTA president VS Negi said the termination was unacceptable and that the association would seek its revocation through talks with the university administration.
The association said it had already written to the CDOE seeking withdrawal of the order but had received no response. DUTA plans to approach the vice-chancellor for intervention.
