Several people were wounded in a shooting in the Danish town of Holbaek, with police suspecting the incident was linked to a dispute between criminal groups.

Police received a report of the shooting at around 3:45pm local time (1345 GMT) and deployed officers at several locations across Holbaek, about 70 km (45 miles) west of Copenhagen.

“A shooting in which multiple people have been hit” was reported, police said in a statement. Authorities did not immediately provide details about the condition of those injured.

Police said their preliminary assessment was that the shooting was connected to a “settling of scores within the criminal milieu”.

Initial information indicated that the suspected perpetrators fled the scene in a white car.

Authorities urged anyone with information about the shooting or the suspects to come forward and assist with the investigation.
