A 45-year-old government school teacher was seriously injured after allegedly jumping from Delhi’s Rani Jhansi Flyover on Thursday. Police said a handwritten note recovered from the scene indicated that he had been under immense work pressure.
The teacher, identified as Anand Kumar Saroha, allegedly jumped from a height of around 30 feet, suffering multiple injuries, including fractures in both hands. Passersby spotted him lying injured and alerted the police and ambulance services around 4:33 pm.
Saroha, a mathematics teacher at Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya in Shastri Nagar, was first taken to Hindu Rao Hospital before being shifted to another hospital for specialized treatment. Police said his condition is stable and he is out of danger.
According to police, the note found at the scene stated that he had been experiencing excessive work pressure and worsening health over the past few days, and that he was taking the step on his own.
Officials said Saroha had recently been assigned additional responsibilities as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, where he was supervising booth-level officers in the Sadar Bazaar area.
