Delhi’s winter pollution enforcement drive collected ₹68.4 lakh in fines and environmental compensation on its first day, as authorities intensified checks under the city’s winter action plan.

Officials inspected nearly 15,000 vehicles, turned back 1,539 vehicles at border checkpoints and issued 566 challans for Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC) violations.

PUCC-related offences accounted for ₹56.6 lakh in penalties, while ₹2 lakh was imposed for violating vehicle entry restrictions and ₹9.8 lakh for construction and demolition-related violations.

The drive includes a ban on non-Delhi vehicles below BS-VI emission standards from November 1, 2026, to January 31, 2027. Fuel stations have also been directed not to supply fuel to vehicles without a valid PUCC.

Traffic police and transport officials jointly conducted inspections at Delhi’s borders as the government stepped up measures to curb air pollution.
