The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an Enforcement Directorate (ED) enforcement officer and a head constable posted in Lucknow for allegedly demanding and accepting a ₹5 lakh bribe to help a complainant’s father in an ED case.
The accused have been identified as enforcement officer Deepak Kumar and head constable Manoj Dwivedi, both posted at the ED’s Lucknow Zonal Office. Dwivedi was serving in the agency on deputation from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
According to the CBI, a case was registered on Friday under the Prevention of Corruption Act following a complaint alleging that Dwivedi had demanded a bribe from the complainant’s father in exchange for providing assistance in an ED case.
The complainant’s father had reportedly received two summons from the ED’s Lucknow zone in August and September 2026.
The CBI said it laid a trap and caught Dwivedi while he was allegedly demanding and accepting ₹5 lakh on behalf of Kumar to extend favourable treatment to the complainant’s father in the case.
The agency has initiated action against the two accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further details of the investigation have not been disclosed.
