INDORE: A horrifying case of gang rape and brutality has emerged from Madhya Pradesh, drawing chilling parallels with the 2012 Nirbhaya case. A 45-year-old tribal woman was sexually assaulted and tortured in Khandwa district’s Khalwa region, leading to her death on Saturday afternoon.

The woman, a mother of two, was found unconscious and bleeding heavily in a village around 50 km from the district headquarters. Her internal injuries were so severe that her intestines were reportedly protruding, indicating the use of a sharp or hard object in the assault.

Two Arrested in Connection with the Crime

Police have arrested two men—Hari Palvi (40) and Sunil Korku (30)—who were last seen with the woman. Both are laborers and residents of the same village. Khandwa DIG Siddharth Bahuguna confirmed their arrest, stating, “The accused brutally assaulted the woman and inflicted grave injuries to her private parts.”

According to Additional SP Rajesh Raghuwanshi, a case of gang rape and murder has been registered against the duo. A preliminary post-mortem report confirmed serious internal trauma, including vaginal tearing that led to severe blood loss. A doctor from the post-mortem panel, speaking anonymously, said, “The nature of the injuries suggests the use of a rod or stick. There were also signs of dragging and multiple abrasions on the body.”

Timeline of the Incident

The woman had attended a wedding on Friday evening and later accompanied one of the accused, Hari, to drop off a relative nearby. She reportedly went to Hari’s house afterward, where both accused consumed alcohol.

Hari’s mother told police that while she believed her son and others were asleep, she heard moaning outside the house the next morning. She found the victim collapsed in their courtyard, barely conscious and pleading to lie down. The woman lost consciousness shortly afterward and succumbed to her injuries around 1:30 pm.

Shockingly, her family did not immediately take her to a hospital, despite noticing heavy bleeding. They called the police only after she died. Her body was transported to the hospital in a tractor for post-mortem examination.

Victim Identifies Attackers Before Death

According to her family, the woman briefly regained consciousness and whispered, “Something terrible has happened to me, I will not survive. Sunil and Hari did this.”

Her son said they initially didn’t realize the extent of her injuries until his wife noticed excessive bleeding. She died soon after, he added.

The family also suspects robbery as a possible motive, as the woman was reportedly carrying ₹20,000, savings given to her by her children who had recently returned from Goa where they work in road construction.
