The Balochistan National Party (BNP) has launched protests across Quetta and other parts of Balochistan, accusing state security forces of escalating repression through enforced disappearances, unlawful detentions and extrajudicial killings.
The demonstrations were triggered by a reported security operation at the residence of senior BNP leader Sardar Naseer Ahmed Musiyani in Zehri.
According to BNP Central Senior Vice President Sajid Tareen, the raid followed an armed clash between Baloch militants and Pakistani security forces in the Balbal area of Zehri.
Party representatives alleged that security personnel arrived at Musiyani’s residence in multiple vehicles and took him and several of his family members into custody.
Allegations of Enforced Disappearances and Killings
BNP activists, supporters and senior leaders gathered outside the Quetta Press Club and other locations to condemn what they described as a continuing pattern of human rights violations in the province.
Party officials alleged that security personnel entered Musiyani’s residence, assaulted family members and detained several relatives and associates. They further claimed that two individuals, identified as Khaleel Musiyani and Umair Sumalani, were killed during the operation.
The allegations have not been independently verified, and Pakistani authorities had not publicly responded to the claims at the time of the protests.
BNP leaders said the incident reflected a broader pattern of state repression and rights abuses in Balochistan, a province that has long witnessed tensions between separatist groups and the Pakistani state.
Calls for Investigation and Accountability
The BNP demanded a transparent and independent investigation into the reported deaths and called for accountability for those responsible.
Party leaders also urged an immediate end to what they described as unlawful detentions, enforced disappearances and targeted violence against political activists.
The party reiterated its commitment to democratic and constitutional politics under the leadership of Akhtar Jan Mengal.
BNP Warns of Further Action
The BNP warned that if the use of force against political leaders and workers continued, the government and relevant institutions would bear responsibility for any resulting public reaction.
The party announced demonstrations outside press clubs across Balochistan and said it would convene meetings to determine its next course of action as tensions in the province continue.
