Rotterdam’s B30-VLSFO (POMEME) price has risen by $11/mt over the past week, while the port’s conventional VLSFO price has increased by $30/mt.

This has narrowed the price premium for B30-VLSFO over conventional VLSFO by $19/mt to $155/mt.

Dutch suppliers can generate ZRE A tickets by selling low-carbon fuels, and these tickets can be traded with other suppliers. The price of these tickets remained at €240/mtCO2e ($269/mtCO2e).

These tickets help reduce biofuel prices in Rotterdam compared with other ports. Belgium does not have a similar mechanism.

ARA UCOME and POMEME barge prices, which indicate feedstock sourcing costs, have each fallen by $73/mt to $1,682/mt and $1,752/mt, respectively. UCOME is therefore priced at a $70/mt discount to POMEME.

Lower feedstock costs may have contributed to the narrowing premium of Rotterdam’s B30-VLSFO over conventional VLSFO.

Bio-bunker demand in Rotterdam has also weakened. Suppliers sold 154,000 mt of bio-bunker fuel during the third quarter, a 38% decline from the previous quarter.

Bio-VLSFO sales fell by more than half to 63,000 mt, while bio-MGO sales declined by 4% to 41,000 mt.

The port authority does not report B100 sales separately, indicating that these volumes are likely included in bio-MGO. B100 samples recorded in Rotterdam more than doubled during the first eight months of the year, and rising B100 demand may help explain the relative stability of bio-MGO sales.

In Antwerp, B100 (UCOME) was priced at $1,974/mt, down $10/mt over the past week.

Biofuel bunker sales at Antwerp-Bruges fell by half from the previous quarter to 13,000 mt. This represented the port’s lowest quarterly biofuel volume since the fourth quarter of the previous year.

Biofuels accounted for less than 1% of the port’s total bunker sales of 2.16 million mt during the third quarter.

In Gibraltar, B30-VLSFO (UCOME) was priced at $1,050/mt, carrying a $252/mt premium over conventional VLSFO.

Asia

Singapore’s B30-VLSFO (UCOME) price has fallen by $22/mt to $1,128/mt, while the port’s conventional VLSFO price has increased by $35/mt.

This has narrowed the premium for B30-VLSFO over conventional VLSFO by $57/mt to $184/mt.

The price of China UCOME cargo, a key feedstock for Singapore’s B30-VLSFO blend, remained at $1,220/mt.

B100 was priced at $1,493/mt in Singapore.
