BENGALURU: A 23-year-old software engineer working at a private company has alleged that her neighbour secretly recorded her while she was bathing on the night of April 29.
Based on her complaint, police arrested the accused after allegedly recovering the video from his mobile phone. The accused, identified as Karthik, a man in his 20s, has been remanded to judicial custody.
According to the complaint filed by the woman, who lives in Garudacharpalya in Mahadevapura, the incident took place between 9.30 pm and 9.40 pm. She told police that while bathing, she noticed someone filming her using a mobile phone.
Shocked by the incident, she raised an alarm, following which the phone was immediately withdrawn from view.
The woman approached the Mahadevapura police the following day and lodged a complaint, expressing concern that the video could be shared or uploaded on social media platforms.
Police registered a case under Sections 77 (voyeurism) and 79 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Karthik, a native of Tamil Nadu, is employed at a private firm. Police officials said only one objectionable video was recovered from his mobile phone.
