A 27-year-old Bengaluru food vlogger has alleged that a delivery agent entered her apartment without consent and exposed himself after delivering a parcel, turning what was meant to be a routine delivery into a distressing experience.
Police arrested the accused, identified as 22-year-old Vijay Mallikarjun Kamat from Karnataka’s Belagavi district, after the woman filed a complaint on Saturday.
Kamat told investigators that he had entered the woman’s washroom because he needed to relieve himself but denied allegations that he exposed himself, police said.
The woman shared a video on Instagram before filing the complaint, describing the incident and warning others about the alleged behaviour.
According to her account, the delivery agent arrived at her residence to hand over a parcel and later asked if he could use her washroom. She said she refused several times, explaining that she does not allow strangers inside her home.
“I politely refused multiple times and told him that I do not allow strangers inside my home. Even when he said it was an emergency, I suggested that he ask the male neighbours next door instead,” she said in her post.
She alleged that the agent then removed his slippers and entered her flat despite her refusal.
“Living alone, I feared for my safety. To protect myself, I switched on my phone camera, kept my main door open and stood near the entrance throughout,” she said.
The woman claimed that the agent later exposed himself after coming out of the washroom.
“When he came out of the washroom, he exposed his private parts to me. I felt violated, humiliated and completely unsafe in my own home,” she said, adding that she posted the video to create awareness.
Flipkart, the e-commerce platform associated with the delivery, said it had terminated the delivery partner’s engagement following the complaint.
“As soon as the matter came to our attention, we terminated the engagement of the delivery partner,” the company said in a statement.
