A human resources (HR) manager employed by a food and beverage service company operating at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport has been booked for allegedly sexually harassing a 26-year-old woman employee, police said on Monday.
According to a complaint filed at the Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) police station, the woman alleged that the accused repeatedly interfered in her personal life, restricted her interactions with colleagues and violated her privacy.
The woman joined the company’s customer service department at the airport in May this year. According to the first information report (FIR), the alleged harassment began on September 24.
Woman Alleges Phone Checks and Restrictions on Interactions
The complainant alleged that the HR manager would take her mobile phone and check its contents. She also accused him of preventing her from speaking to other people and repeatedly insisting that she show him a tattoo on her chest.
The woman further alleged that the accused engaged in inappropriate conduct that made her uncomfortable and violated her personal boundaries.
HR Manager Accused of Inappropriate Conduct at Workplace
According to the FIR, an incident occurred on September 30 when the HR manager allegedly called the woman into a room at her workplace. She alleged that he removed his clothes, exposed his private parts and pressured her to do the same.
The woman told police that she left the room following the incident. She subsequently informed her friends about what had happened and sought their advice before approaching the police.
Case Registered Under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
