BENGALURU: A 25-year-old security guard was allegedly assaulted and threatened by a cab driver acting as a tout at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) early Monday morning.

The injured guard has been identified as Debasish Biswas, while the accused is Gangadhar. The incident took place around 4.30am in the Quad area of Terminal 2.

Biswas, who has been working as a landside security guard at the airport for the past year, noticed Gangadhar allegedly trying to forcibly solicit passengers for cab services. As the driver was reportedly troubling passengers and causing inconvenience to other vehicles, Biswas asked him to leave the premises.

This led to an argument between the two. During the altercation, Gangadhar allegedly assaulted Biswas and verbally abused him.

According to the complaint, the accused later followed the security guard to his residence and issued death threats.

Based on the complaint, police have registered a case against Gangadhar under Sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 126 (wrongful restraint) and 351 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). An investigation is underway.
