BENGALURU: Three doctors, including a woman, have been booked for reckless riding after a video showing them triple riding on a two-wheeler—one holding what appeared to be a beer bottle—went viral on social media.
The incident occurred around 10pm on Sunday on 16th Main Road between BTM Layout and Jayadeva Junction. Two of the riders were not wearing helmets, while the third, seated as pillion, was seen drinking from a bottle amid moving traffic.
Acting suo motu, Mico Layout traffic police registered an FIR for rash and negligent riding on a public way, endangering human life, along with charges related to public nuisance.
Using the vehicle number (KA-04JS-8028), police traced the owner, Dhanush, and subsequently summoned the other two accused, Apoorva and Avinash. During questioning, the trio admitted they had been celebrating the completion of their MS in orthopaedics at a bar before the incident.
“Avinash carried a half-finished beer bottle with him and rode pillion while the others drove through traffic,” a police officer said.
The video, recorded by a commuter, sparked widespread criticism online, prompting swift police action.
Citywide crackdown on traffic violations
In a separate enforcement drive conducted between March 16 and March 22, Bengaluru traffic police intensified checks across 53 stations to curb drunk driving and overspeeding.

Authorities said the campaign aims to improve road safety and deter reckless behaviour on city roads.
