The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk freight index, which monitors rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, extended its rally into a 14th session on Wednesday, rising 1.3% to its highest level since early December 2025 at 2,675 points.

The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes including iron ore and coal, increased 1.3% to a more than four-month high of 4,356 points; and the supramax index advanced 2.8% to 1,484 points.

Meanwhile, the panamax index, which usually carries 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, was down for a second day, falling 0.1% to 1,971 points.
