HARIDWAR: Police filed a case under the Pocso Act after a 14-year-old student at a private school in Haridwar claimed that the archery coach there had sexually assaulted her last year. At the moment, the accused is at large.

According to police, the girl enrolled in the school’s archery program last year. She was allegedly raped in October by the coach, a native of Haryana, who also threatened to keep quiet. After that, he harassed her for months.

After she recently told her parents about the experience, her father officially complained to the police. “A case was registered two days ago on behalf of father’s complaint,” SSI Anuj Singh told TOI. The girl was sent for medical examinations. We are looking into the possibility that he targeted additional girls.

(The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
