Siliguri: Advocate Rinki Chatterjee Singh has sought the registration of a Zero FIR against Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and other organisers, alleging that a 12-year-old child was brought to a protest at Jantar Mantar on July 20.
In her complaint, Singh questioned why a minor was present at the demonstration, which was organised against the alleged NEET paper leak and education-related issues. She claimed that the protest witnessed a police lathi-charge and that abusive language was allegedly used against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the country.
Speaking after filing the complaint, Singh said a child of that age falls within the category of a “child in need of care and protection” and argued that the circumstances under which the minor participated in the protest should be investigated.
Seeks Action Under POCSO and BNS
Singh has sought the registration of a case against Dipke, Das and other organisers under Sections 13, 14 and 15 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, along with Section 153 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
She alleged that the organisers were responsible for involving children in the protest and maintained that their presence at the demonstration warranted legal scrutiny.
References Prime Minister’s Statement
The advocate also referred to a subsequent social media message by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in which he reportedly said he had forgiven the youth accused of making objectionable remarks and that no legal action would be taken against them in view of their future.
Singh alleged that CJP organisers later shared a video demanding an apology from the Prime Minister over the alleged police lathi-charge on protesters, including 12-year-old girls. She again questioned why minors had been brought to the protest.
Raises Questions Over Funding
In her complaint, Singh also questioned the source of funding for the protests, asking who was financing the demonstrations. She alleged that the movement was being supported by what she described as a “deep state” and further claimed the involvement of “brokers” and “anti-nationals” working against the government.
These allegations have been made by the complainant and form part of the complaint submitted to the authorities. There has been no official response from CJP or the individuals named in the complaint at the time of reporting.
