The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) will investigate the helicopter crash near Joshimath in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district on October 30, which killed all six people onboard, including the pilot.

The Trans Bharat Aviation helicopter was flying from Badrinath to Dehradun when it crashed into a hillside near Chai village.

The investigation will be conducted under the Aircraft (Investigation of Accidents and Incidents) Rules, 2025, to determine the circumstances and causes of the crash and recommend measures to prevent similar accidents.

Investigators will examine the wreckage, flight data and cockpit voice recordings, along with maintenance records and operational procedures. The probe is intended to establish the cause of the accident and improve aviation safety, rather than assign blame or liability.

The AAIB will prepare a final report outlining its findings and safety recommendations.
